The AB/SK FNS program has received confirmation of additional funding in order to deliver FNS Help desk services until March 31st, 2009.
Update on the AB/SK FNS 08/09 programs current services:
• Negotiation and Payment of Internet connectivity fees (April 1, 2008 – March 31, 2009 for participating First Nations Schools)
* To ensure there is no interruption of service, a signed copy of the current year’s Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was required by Sept. 30th, 2008. The MOA is the agreement of participation between the First Nations School’s and the First Nations SchoolNet Program.
• FNS Help desk services : We received confirmation of additional program funding to cover help desk services until March 31st, 2009. AB/SK FNS help desk provides general help desk services for internet connectivity related issues and support for software applications to all Alberta and Saskatchewan First Nations SchoolNet participating schools. (Please see FNS Help Desk Tab to the left)
• The First Nations SchoolNet Youth program: At the end of November 08, the Keewatin Academy of Information Technology (KAIT: www.kait.ca), will be completing the first rollout of the ITE1: PC Hardware & Software training. A second intake is set for Dec. 08, KAIT will be offering the ITE1: PC Hardware & Software and the CCNA Discovery 1: Home & Small Business Networking training.
Also in 2009, KAIT will be registered as a tuition-based vocational college institution to accept students who don’t qualify for the FNS-Youth funding. This will enable our institution to charge for our courses on a tuition-basis and enroll any interested individuals. Please contact Nick Daigneault for more information on training.
